Veterans and DVA health
Care from a GP who spent seven years as an ADF Senior Medical Officer. DVA claims, permanent impairment assessments and everyday care for Gold and White Card holders.

East Hills Medical Centre provides GP care for veterans and serving members at 17 Maclaurin Avenue, East Hills, about ten minutes' drive from Holsworthy Barracks. Dr Sajid Siddiqi worked as GP and Senior Medical Officer for the Australian Defence Force from 2013 to 2020 at the Randwick and Holsworthy health centres, and now helps veterans with Department of Veterans' Affairs claims, permanent impairment assessments and the medical evidence claims depend on. DVA Gold Card holders are bulk billed for all consultations on weekdays, and White Card holders are bulk billed for their accepted conditions. Everyday care such as chronic disease management, mental health support and referrals is provided in the same practice, so a veteran's DVA matters and general health are handled by one doctor who knows both. In 2025 the practice was a NSW nominee for the Australian Defence Force Employer Support Award. Book a long consultation for DVA matters.
Help with DVA claims
A DVA claim depends on a clear medical record linking a condition to service. Dr Siddiqi can take a detailed history, arrange the investigations a claim needs, complete the medical sections of claim forms, and write reports for the Department of Veterans' Affairs. Because he worked inside Defence health for seven years, he understands how service medical records are kept and what DVA delegates look for.
- Initial liability claims for service-related conditions
- Permanent impairment assessments
- Reports and supporting evidence for claims and reviews
- Referral to advocates and ex-service organisations where useful
Gold Card and White Card patients
DVA Gold Card holders are bulk billed for all GP consultations on weekdays. White Card holders are bulk billed for consultations about their accepted conditions; other consultations are billed under the standard fee schedule. DVA appointments are not available on Sundays. Bring your card to every visit so the practice can bill DVA directly.
Ongoing care for veterans
Many veterans live with musculoskeletal injury, hearing loss, sleep problems, chronic pain and mental health conditions. The practice offers GP Management Plans, Mental Health Treatment Plans, physiotherapy and podiatry in the same building, and referrals to specialists and Open Arms counselling. Dr Siddiqi's interests include injury management, rehabilitation and return-to-work assessment.
Serving members and reservists
The practice supports reservist employees and was a 2025 NSW nominee for the ADF Employer Support Award. Serving members needing civilian care can be seen alongside their Defence health arrangements.
Questions patients ask
Do I need a DVA card to be seen?
No. Any veteran can book. If you have not yet lodged a claim, a consultation is a sensible first step to get the medical record started.
How long does a DVA appointment take?
Book a long or complex consultation. Claims and impairment assessments involve a detailed history and paperwork, and a rushed appointment does not serve the claim.
Is the practice a DVA provider?
Yes. DVA Gold and White Card holders are billed to DVA directly for eligible consultations on weekdays.
Can you help with a claim that was rejected?
Dr Siddiqi can review the medical basis of a claim and provide further evidence or reports for a review. For advocacy on the process itself, an ex-service organisation or a DVA advocate is the right partner, and the practice can point you to one.
