Fees and billing

Mixed billing. Bulk billing for the patients who need it most; a flat gap for everyone else, whatever the length of the consultation. Fees current at June 2026.

East Hills Medical Centre is a mixed billing practice. On weekdays, children and young people aged 18 and under, pensioners, Health Care Card and concession card holders, DVA Gold Card holders and DVA White Card holders for accepted conditions are bulk billed, as are care plans, mental health treatment plans and health assessments for patients aged 75 and over. All other patients pay a flat gap of $33 on any consultation during normal hours, or $43 after hours and on Sundays, after the Medicare rebate: you pay the full fee by card at the appointment and Medicare returns the rebate to your bank account, usually within 48 hours. Sunday consultations are privately billed for everyone, and care plans, mental health plans and DVA appointments are not available on Sundays. Procedures such as iron infusions, skin lesion removal and suturing are privately billed for all patients at the fees listed below.

Questions patients ask

Do I pay more for a long consultation?

No. During normal hours the gap is $33 whether the consultation is short, standard, long or complex. The Medicare rebate is larger for longer consultations and covers the difference.

When does the rebate arrive?

Usually within 48 hours of the appointment, paid by Medicare into the bank account registered against your Medicare card.

Are pensioners bulk billed on Sundays?

No. Sunday consultations are privately billed for all patients. Pensioners and concession card holders are bulk billed Monday to Friday.

Is there a fee for missed appointments?

Please give as much notice as you can if you cannot attend so the appointment can be offered to another patient. Ask reception about the current policy on late cancellations.
