New patients
Everything a first visit needs: what to bring, the forms, how results and scripts work, and how to reach a doctor after hours.
New patients are welcome at East Hills Medical Centre and can book a first appointment online through HotDoc or by calling (02) 9773 3676. Book a long consultation for your first visit so the doctor has time to take a full history. Bring your Medicare card, any pension, concession or DVA card, your current medications or a list of them, and any recent test results or specialist letters. You can save time by completing the new patient information form before you arrive and by asking your previous practice to send your records. Children and young people aged 18 and under, concession card holders and DVA card holders are bulk billed on weekdays; other patients pay a $33 gap after the Medicare rebate. The practice is on street level at Shop 1, 17 Maclaurin Avenue, two minutes' walk from East Hills station, with street parking outside.

Appointments
Standard appointments suit one or two concerns. Ask for a long appointment for several issues, a care plan, a mental health plan, a procedure or a first visit. If you need to be seen today, phone when the practice opens. Reception will ask a few questions so urgent problems are seen first.
Results
Every result is reviewed by your doctor. If follow-up is needed you receive an SMS asking you to book. Reception cannot give results over the phone, so please keep your mobile number current.
Repeat prescriptions and referrals
Repeats and referrals need an appointment so the doctor can check the treatment is still right for you. Existing patients can request repeats through HotDoc; the doctor reviews the request and sends an eScript to your phone.
Telehealth
Patients seen in the practice within the last 12 months can book phone consultations for results, repeats, certificates and follow-up. How telehealth works.
Reminders and recalls
The practice runs a reminder system for immunisations, screening and care plan reviews. You may receive an SMS or letter; tell reception if you would rather not.
Interpreters and accessibility
Interpreters can be arranged through the Translating and Interpreting Service at no cost to you; let reception know when booking. The practice is on street level with a wide entrance and an accessible consulting room.
After hours
When the practice is closed, 13SICK National Home Doctor provides bulk-billed home visits for Medicare and DVA card holders: call 13 7425. In an emergency call 000, or go to Bankstown Hospital (Eldridge Road) or Liverpool Hospital.
Feedback and complaints
Feedback is welcome by email to info@easthillsmedical.com.au or in the box at reception. If a concern is not resolved, the NSW Health Care Complaints Commission can be contacted on 1800 043 159.
