East Hills Medical Centre is an independent general practice at Shop 1, 17 Maclaurin Avenue, East Hills NSW 2213, owned and run by its doctors rather than a corporate group. It is accredited by AGPAL against the RACGP Standards for general practices, which means independent surveyors have assessed its systems for safety, privacy, infection control and clinical quality. The practice is a teaching practice for the School of Medicine at the University of Notre Dame Australia, Sydney, where Dr Sajid Siddiqi is an adjunct lecturer, and it is an approved Yellow Fever vaccination centre. In 2025 it was a New South Wales nominee for the Australian Defence Force Employer Support Award in the small private employer category, recognising its support for reservist staff. Three GPs, two practice nurses, a visiting physiotherapist and a Friday podiatrist work from purpose-fitted rooms with a treatment room for procedures.

How we work

The practice was set up to provide primary care in a traditional style, with a doctor you keep seeing, alongside current clinical practice and electronic records. Referrals and clinical decisions are made in the patient's interest: the practice has no financial interest in any other provider in the building and no referral targets.

Accreditation

General practice accreditation is voluntary. It involves the whole team reviewing the practice's systems and then opening the doors to independent AGPAL surveyors who assess the practice against the RACGP Standards. Look for the AGPAL symbol and certificate at reception.

Teaching

Medical students from the University of Notre Dame Australia attend some consultations with Dr Siddiqi, who also trains and supervises GP registrars for the RACGP and ACRRM and serves as an RACGP examiner. Dr Uthpala Senaviratne is completing her GP training within the practice. Tell reception if you would prefer no student present.

Defence and veterans

Dr Siddiqi worked as GP and Senior Medical Officer with the Australian Defence Force from 2013 to 2020, including at Holsworthy and Randwick barracks, and the practice supports staff who serve in the Reserves. The 2025 ADF Employer Support Award nomination recognised that support.
